Pride and Fear: Islam in Sub-Saharan Africa
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (May, 2003)
Average review score:

Pride and Fear: Islam in Sub-Saharan AfricaI just finished reading Pride and Fear. What a great read! It kept me captivated from front to back. I was interested to find out more about the religion of Islam and how it has come to have such an impact in all of our lives. This book has helped by showing how a number of African communities have integrated their religion into their political and daily attitudes. It was both accesible and informative. I have found a handful of books in the last couple of years that have helped expand my understanding of our global community and this is one of them.

The Princess and the Admiral
Published in Paperback by The Feminist Press at CUNY (April, 1992)
Average review score:

my kid loved itMy son, who is 7, was sick last week and read most of this book to himself, chortling out loud sometimes. I like it because the language is lyrical, the Princess is strong, and the peasants win. It also gives my son some insight and historical context for his Vietnamese classmates.

Puppy's Memory Book
Published in Paperback by Tennessee Valley Pub (27 October, 1999)
Average review score:

Puppy"s Memory Book an affordable book.I was very pleased with "Puppy's Memory Book". I had looked at other baby books and was taken aback by the prices. This book is exactly what every puppy parent needs to keep a journal of all the great happenings in your special babies lives. The book was full of cute colorful pictures and was easy to fill out. This book is really nice because of it's affordable price.I have given some of the books to the real children I know, so that they can also learn how to keep a journal of their pets lives. I just wish everyone who had a special baby in their lives would give this book a try.

The Quarreling Book
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

a wonderful children's bookThis book was a frequent bedtime reading for me as a kid, and it was one of my mother's favorites, too. As a middle child in a loving, but often frazzled family, I easily understood and sympathized with the quarrels of this family. Zolotow paints a picture of a very loving and typical family that makes all of us who bicker from time to time realize how normal we are. More importantly, it reminds everyone that their grumpiness toward others only spurs on more bad feelings, but, thankfully, a little kindness goes a long way, too.

Racial Attitudes in America: Trends and Interpretations
Published in Paperback by Harvard Univ Pr (February, 1998)
Average review score:

A Must-Read!Schuman et al.'s "Racial Attitudes in America" is a must-read for students and researchers interested in race relations and intersections between race and politics. Well-written and insightful, "Racial Attitudes in America" is also very understandable for the curious observer of race relations. Schuman et al. analyze national survey data from the 1970s to the present in order to understand how the public feels about such important issues as affirmative action and other "race-targeted" policies. Moreover, the authors examine the extent to which prejudice and other negative racial attitudes are still widespread in the United States. Though extremely informative, the book devotes far more attention to examining trends in racial attitudes than to understanding the sources of them. Nonetheless, this book will provide a valuable starting point for any student or researcher interested in understanding the sources of racial attitudes.

The Resolute Runaway
Published in Paperback by New American Library (February, 1992)
Average review score:

The adventure continues...Dolan is again writing at the top of her form. This story is the follow up to The Substitute Bridegroom. The earlier book was about Nicholas; sister - Elizabeth. It was exciting to revisit old friends again and see how Darius and Elizabeth are doing. But this book concentrates on Nicholas and his escapades. Dolan has created a hero who is every woman's desire. The story between the H+H is wonderful, they both grow and learn from mistakes. This author has such rich character development, reading her is like savoring the best in today's regency fiction. But this book asap!
